Parent Update

Parents and Families,

September is a busy month, and I want to make sure you are updated on everything happening at our school.

Attached, you will find new flyers from our community partners, along with additional information about upcoming events and activities at TZ. I thought it might also be helpful to review some important dates and reminders.

Toys and Personal Items

I would like to ask for your support in having students keep toys and other non-essential personal items at home. These items can become distracting during the school day, and we also want to avoid concerns about personal belongings being lost or damaged.
Keeping toys at home helps students stay focused on learning and prevents unnecessary issues. Thank you for your help with this.

Water Bottles

Please remember to send your student with a clear, plastic water bottle. Metal, glass, and opaque water bottles are not permitted due to safety concerns.
Water is the only drink allowed in student water bottles.
Thank you for helping us keep our school safe while making sure students have access to water throughout the day.

Picture Day — September 17

Flyers were sent home with students containing information about picture packages and background choices.
Orders may be placed online. If you are ordering with the paper form, please return the envelope with the order information and payment, if needed, on Picture Day.

Homecoming Week — September 21–25

We will be joining our primary schools in celebrating Homecoming Week with Spirit Days. Please see the attached flyer for details.
Participation in Spirit Days is completely optional, but it can be a fun way for students and staff to show their school spirit!

Student Council Blood Drive — September 23

The Student Council Blood Drive will be held from 2:45–5:45 p.m. in the TZ Cafeteria.
Sign-up information is included on the attached flyer. If you are attending the blood drive, please enter through the cafeteria doors.

School Smiles at TZ — September 30

Kathy Crist, our Corporation Nurse, sent home information about how to register for this optional dental service for students.
Consent forms are due September 25.

End of First Quarter — October 2

Midterm grades were posted in Skyward last week. First-quarter grades will be posted in Skyward on October 9.

Parent-Teacher Conferences — October 5–8

Teachers will be sending home information during the next week regarding their conference schedules and whether they feel there is a need to meet at this time.
Please remember that communication does not need to wait for conference week. Teachers are always available to receive messages and respond to questions or concerns. Families are encouraged to reach out through ParentSquare whenever needed.

Growth and Development Presentations — Grades 4 and 5 — October 9

Families of fourth- and fifth-grade students received information last week from Kathy Crist, our Corporation Nurse, regarding the upcoming Growth and Development presentations.

Fall Break — October 12–16

There will be no school during Fall Break.

As you can see, this time of year is filled with many important activities and opportunities at TZ. Thank you for staying connected and for your continued partnership in supporting our students.

Finallly, if you are in need of a winter coat for your student, please contact your child's teacher, Mrs. Coons, Mrs. Mauntel, or the office.  See the attached flyer about our TZ Clothese Closet for more information.
