Hello TZ families! My name is Jennifer Rhoades. I have been given the honor of working with the teachers, students, parents, and administration as the principal at TZ. I come to you with a wide range of experiences that I hope to share with you over the upcoming year. I am a graduate of Purdue University and have experience teaching in grades 3, 4, and 6. I have taught in both general education and high ability classrooms. I also had the pleasure of running a preschool for 2-5 year olds for eight years. I am a mom to 2 grown children and grammy to one beautiful girl and another on the way. My husband and I live in Avon, IN.
I have high expectations for myself and for the students and staff at TZ. It is my hope that we will all learn and grow together during our stay here at TZ. Making a commitment to be as successful as possible is a top priority. No one is great at everything, but we are all great at something! Using this thought, I know we can find ways to include everyone in the education process in ways that work best for every individual learner.
I encourage you to make every effort to spend time at home discussing your child’s school day and learning right along with them. School has changed in many ways over the years and I know from experience with my own kids, what we learned when we were in 4th grade is very different from what they learn today. Math terms have changed, reading levels have numbers assigned to them, and expectations are higher than ever before. Imagine the beam in your child’s eye if you give them the chance to teach you something new! Try it! You will be amazed at how your child’s confidence will grow using this one simple trick.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know as many families as possible this year. Please stop by and introduce yourself when you see me out and about.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Rhoades
