Professional Development Plan 2014-2015

Welcome to Professional Learning at GCSC 2014-2015

All professional growth activities of GCSC will support the growth of student achievement:

1. Professional Learning of our certified staff will seek to create and grow active student engagementin all class rooms.

2. Professional Learning of our certified staff will seek to increase the rigor of all content areas in each class room to motivate students to learn to their potential.

3. Professional Learning of our certified staff will seek to create and foster a student's accountability for their academic growth measures.

4. Professional Learning of our certified staff will infuse technology into each class to increase engagement, rigor, and responsibility for students and their learning.

 

Application for Professional Learning

Applicationfor professional learning activities requires the approval of thebuilding principal and the assistant superintendent.  The process forapplication begins with completing the PG1 Professional Growth Applicationfound on the Professional Development webpage or 1:1 Technology webpageof the GCSC website.  The Professional Development webpage is indexedunder the Employee tab.  Applicants should complete and submit the PG1form on line.  Paper copies are no longer needed.  The form will beelectronically submitted to your building principal, supervisor and theassistant superintendent at the same time.  Should either the assistantsuperintendent or your supervisor deny the application, the supervisorwill make contact with you to inform you of the reason of the denial.    Allapplications must be received in central office three weeks prior tothe registration date of the proposed professional learning activity forout of district workshops.  All in-district workshops need to beapplied for two weeks before the event or as soon as possible if createdfor a building based workshop.  Applicants will then receivecommunication via email from their supervisor of the status of theirapplications is denied.  Otherwise the staff member may proceed as ifthe application is approved. 

Anyschool employee attending professional learning outside of the districtshould drive the corporation vehicle.  Arrangements for use of thevehicle should be made by emailing or calling Dan Green (ext. 700). Mileage for the use of a personal vehicle will only be made if thedistrict vehicle was unavailable for use.  Staff members who chose todrive from their own homes will not receive reimbursement.  Only onevehicle for each five persons attending may be reimbursed for mileageusing US approved mileage rates.

Followingparticipation in professional learning activities outside the districtwhich have been approved, the teacher is required to complete aProfessional Growth Completion Form (PG2).  This form can also beaccessed on the Professional Development webpage of the GCSC website. Reimbursement for registration fees will be made following thecompletion of the PG2 and the appropriate claim forms.  If there is norequest for reimbursement then the PG2 need not be completed unlessspecified by the supervisor.  All knowledge learned at the workshop isconsidered property of GCSC if GCSC paid for the workshop.
